Welcome to First Baptist Church!

Welcome to First Baptist Church of Hillsborough. The most frequent "first look" at a Church body comes through experiencing a worship service. Our worship gatherings are at 9:30 and 11:00 AM on Sunday mornings. The two services are identical except for a children's devotion held at the 11:00 AM gathering. At any worship service, you can obtain a "Welcome Folder" that includes information about the church. You can also pick up the latest hard copy of the Messenger, our bi-monthly newsletter. Of course you can also experience the worship of God with us! Our hope is that you will experience God in worship and desire to move toward a group that focuses on discipleship, like a Sunday School class or a small group study. Once connected there, we hope everyone moves into a ministry / mission opportunity where his / her gifts will be used.

At First Baptist Church of Hillsborough, it is our conviction that every person should get involved with the Church by finding his / her place of discipleship, ministry, and mission. We ask three things of everyone:

  1. be present with the church in worship;
  2. be active with a group that focuses on discipleship; and
  3. be active in a ministry / mission.

There are many ways to become involved in all three of these areas. Check out the website more fully to discover what is happening or contact the church office and staff to ask questions.

Joining our fellowship can occur by:

  1. Making a profession of faith in Jesus and believer's baptism. This would be for the person who is making the decision to follow Jesus as a disciple for the first time in their lives.
  2. Declaring faith in Jesus and statement of believer's baptism by immersion in another church family. This is for the person who was active in another church (a tradition other than Baptist) and is deciding to move from that church to First Baptist Church of Hillsborough.
  3. Transfer of current church membership from a Baptist church elsewhere. This is for the person who is active in a Baptist church and is desiring to join First Baptist Church of Hillsborough.

Questions sometimes arise about going from one tradition (e.g. Methodist, Episcopal, Presbyterian, Catholic) into the Baptist tradition of the Christian faith. If you have questions, contact our pastor, Randy Carter at 732-8174 or randy.carter@ncrrbiz.com.
